MZ Experience - What to Expect

MZ Experience 2012

What to expect at the Race Meeting

Test Day normally starts at around 7am on Friday.

·         You’ll be met by our MZ Experience Co-ordinator and introduced to your fellow racers.

·         A quick orientation of the paddock will follow.

·         Next you’ll be shown your bike, we’ll talk you through it and its controls.

·         You will help prepare it for the day – yes, YOU. We will give you all the help you need but the idea is to get you up to speed as an MZ Racer. This means learning and doing it all, from tyre pressures to mixing the fuel.

·         After the prep it's off to sign on, get the bike sound tested and then the first session of the day.

·         We race in just about all weathers and will make sure that your bike has the correct tyres to meet the conditions on track.

·         The morning is spent familiarising yourself with the circuit, machine and the racing environment. There will be an instructor on track who will observe you as you lap the circuit and give you some feedback after your sessions.

·         After lunch we will help you smooth out some of the rougher edges and help you prepare for your first race day. You will get the chance to see other racers in action; watch how it should be done and ask the million and one questions that will be on your mind.

Race Day 1 normally starts at 7am.

·         The day starts with technical inspection (scrutineering), signing on and bike prep.

·         Then there will be a practice session, a chance to sort out the final adjustments and lines.

·         Off to the collecting area, out onto the grid! A warm-up lap and then its wait for the lights to go out and you’re off !

·         There is a practice session and two races each race day.

·         You will be 'buddied' up with a couple of regulars who will help you be where you need to be at the right time (race days can be hectic) and work with you on your bike and race craft throughout the day. Don't worry - they were first timers once too and they know just how nerve wracking.... and exciting, that first race meeting can be.

Race Day 2 also starts at approximately 7am.

·       More of the same....you’ll be surprised how much you’ve learnt already.

At the end of the loooong weekend we hope we will have you hooked and you'll be looking for your own bike.
Any competition points you may have earned will be carried forward to the end of the season.

What else might you need

·  Food and water. There will be some food available at the circuit but days and times can vary.

·  Accommodation (back of a van, caravan, tent, B&B etc) if you live too far from the circuit to go home.

·  Warm / waterproof clothing.

·  You should be able to borrow a novice vest from us and your 'race day buddies' will have everything else you will need for looking after and prepping the bike.

·  Money towards petrol (more on cost later...)

    ·  Friends and family to cheer you on.

What’s next

·         Once we have received your deposit we can reserve a bike for you at one of the 8 race meetings in the season.

·         Bookings are taken on a first come first served basis.
