Advice for potential newbie please

Hi everyone

I've been reading with interest, the comments in the forum regarding the relative merits of the ETZ and TS frames, and have noted the comments about the TS frame being sharper in the turn, but less stable thro' fast corners. I've not, however, seen any comments on the pluses and minuses of the respective engines. Do I take it, that it's a given, that an ETZ engine will be used, or are there competitors who still run TSs?

Any comments would be welcomed. Thanks.

4 gears vs 5 (though i did find a TS once with a 5 speed box)

Plus the TS only has single transfer ports.  It just doent tune very well, when i started 7 years ago someone was trying again with a TS (Steve Cannon?), but it was very slow.

I reckon a ETZ with yokes like Chris Rogers has to be the best bet, the trail is all wrong so they are mega unstable on the brakes,  Chris's yokes must help sort that and you get the best of both worlds.  I rode both a 251 frame and a ETZ and managed a 57 round brands indy on both, but my time on the ETZ was faster and it was much easier to ride. The 251 frame was way better on the brakes than my ETZ because of the trail issue.

Re: Advice for potential newbie please

Hi

Thanks for that. Yes, I should have made it clear that, in considering the TS250 as a potential base/donor machine, I meant the 250/1 'Supa 5'  5-speed version. I take your point about the transfer ports though, and appreciate the interesting comments regarding frames, yokes and rideability.

A 57" round Brands Indy is pretty handy I must say - I'd be pleased to get round in under 3 minutes! :-D

Cheers.
