If i was still ridding an MZ I wouldnt chose to go back to Donington, not because of loosing John, the snow, being the first to fall off in said snow or because I spent most of the races wanting to turn left at Coppice.
It's because MZ's arnt fast enough to make Donington exciting. From Redgate to the old hairpin was flat out and i could take almost any old line i wanted (and did a fair few times... sorry Nick)
Maybe it was the build up, but I was disappointed by Donington. I'd def go back on a bigger bike, just not on an MZ.
Oulton Park however is worth the trip, even if you do only get one days racing. |

Sue has never ridden an MZ so are you saying her opinion doesn’t count either? Much to your distaste this site is open for anyone involved in the club past present of future to express their opinion on all things MZ related, even you.
Many newer riders will not realise that prestigious circuits such as Brands GP, Donington and Oulton come at the expense of one another; you won’t get them all, probably one at best. Maybe if you’re not very fast, like yourself, then Donington is a lot of fun. For me, after being so desperate to race there, like I imagine everyone else who’s not been privileged enough probably is, it was a disappointment. Why shouldn’t others want to know that? Maybe everyone else thinks it was brilliant, or they don't have a strong enough opinion to bother posting?
If you feel so strongly about me not being involved in the club, then i’d quite happily terminate all my involvement. i.e. this website which i’m fed up with maintaining, especially since it involves having to read your often unpleasant and unhelpful posts to ensure its working.
Everyone else on this forum manages to act like a civil grown up, so could you also please give it a try.

Well i would go back in a flash , makes a change from doing brands and snetterton, also its a very diffent circuit with fast flowing corners. Which makes it so differnet from any other circuit on the calender. I didnt get much track time last time having to watch a handfull of riders race (well done steve!!!) after being taken out by a mr phill b .............. well he turned around at me and threw a snow ball under my front wheel (the true story ) |

I think the weather ruined Donington for me. But I'd love the chance to go back and try it on a less snowy day. I found it a real challenge around there. Pretty much every corner of every lap I knew I could do quicker, so I'd definately be up for going again.
Oulton is just too far to travel for one days racing.
If BEMSEE run the new Snett layout for at least one round then I'd love to go there and try it. I know a lot of people dislike Snetterton, but I think it's one of the most challenging tracks we go to, and the new layout looks awesome for zeds.
If I'm honest I don't think Brands GP is worth the money.
I really enjoyed Pembrey this year. I know it's a trek but having the zedders all together is superb, and the track is a tricky sod to get right (still haven't). Got think of Des too.
Brands Indy (pah).
Silverstone. Two corners and two straights. Woop de doo.
So for me it would be the same as this year but start at Snetterton instead of Brands.
Snett (300 circuit) 26-27 March
Cadwell 9-10 April
Pembrey 30 - 1 May
BH GP 21 - 22 May (go on then)
Snett 25 - 26 June
BH Indy 30 - 31 July
Cadwell 20 - 21 August (king of the Zeds)
Snett 3 -4 Sept. (The John Welfare cup)
And if possible sort out a guest appearance with another club for a one off weiner takes all mini championship.

Hang on, hang on, Phil B, I would bet on it that no one in the MZ paddock would want you to end your involvement with the Zeds. I find it difficult to believe you find it a pain. I for one would like to see you continuing so get back on a Zed and enjoy some racing again. At least come and see us. As for Andy's comments, I've always taken them with a touch of salt and a fair bit of humour. That description is'nt the Andy I know.
I don't think we had a fair shot at Donninton, the conditions were just not normal, even walking round the circuit was slippery. Did'nt think much of the paddock and facilities though, when we went in I could'nt believe it was used by MotoGP.
Then again, what do I know!!!

Ok Phil so i hope it has become apparent that my comment to you and Mr Munday was meant in jest and not in the F**k you way that you seem to have decided to interpret it as. I am informed that i should have included a small winking smiley with its thumb up which would have indicated the implied irony/humour ,i appologise if that ommission has upset you.
Where all the other opinion, unpleasant unhelpful crap has come from i will ask you to explain to me on here if you wish or next time our paths cross. to sugest that i have in any way attempted to prevent anyone past or present from using this forum/website is ludicrous. I and many others appreciate that without this site the club would be in danger of fizzling out and as a point of contact it is invaluable.
I am sorry that maintaing the site has become such a burden but perhaps we can arrange to lessen that in he future. at the last A.G.M the value of the website was acknowledged ( item 12 ) and Todd was volunteered to look into the funding and running as no one knew how it was funded or maintained, this is still a priority and any help you can lend on that score would be much appreciated as we need to keep it running and move it forward. The next A.G.M is fast approaching so perhaps you could put something together for that ?.
Finally your last point about everyone else on the forum managing to "act like a civil grown up" should have had a smiley on it ,i tried being grown up once but it was highly overrated . in my opinion. andy#15 x
p.s I can NEVER forgive you for saying i am "not very fast " Never. ever ..

HI all,
i was at Brands today and popped into speak to Tracey regarding dates and tracks etc.
Snettertton will have two rounds on the new 300 track and 1 on the 200 track.
Silverstone, will replace Oulton, but the dates are still TBC.
Reading between the lines, i feel a simular look to this year for the MZ'ers.
3 Brands, 2 Snett, 2 Cadwell. Pembrey.
FYI - Clarke, in his first race today - his front braked seized on the first lap and he stopped......in the middle of the track, not the greatest of places to stop.
see you all soon

I believe Andy led one of the races at Donnington, and then had the front to overtake me whilst body boarding on his burning motorcycle. Funny and scary all in one go.
Anyway. enough of the slagging off of one another. We're all mates on here. Phil must have had a crap day, and to be fair Andy, it's hard to read sarcastic. Lets put this behind us. Shake hands. Drink beer. Swap wives/girlfriends and get on with it. This isn't Motoforum after all. |
